First Steps Toward Unfolding the Grail

In the first article of the Grail series last month, we looked at the attributes of a Grail seeker. In this article we will explore the first steps we are asked to take as we begin the journey. Before we can follow a larger calling, we need to take stock of ourselves. We cannot proceed if we insist on carrying baggage from the past because it holds us back. We are asked to simplify our lives and take personal inventory. As we confront ourselves with honesty and look at our strengths and weaknesses, we can clear vestiges of anger, special ness, guilt, grudges, hurt, and all other emotions that hold us in a vice of attachment. Until we free ourselves from these old wounds or illusions, we will always be vulnerable to attack. There will be something that pushes our buttons, or inflames an old attitude. When we are bound by emotion, we are weakened. Therefore, in order to proceed, our inner nature needs to be freed.

As an example of this, let's look at ourselves as pure energy, with a fine mesh that surrounds our individual bodies. As we hold on to events, attitudes, and emotions that cause us to be "stuck," it is as though a clump of dust is lodged in the mesh and does not allow light to flow through to us. The more "clumps" that clog the mesh, the less we are able to attract and radiate light. Therefore, as we identify those "clumps" and release them, we are clearing our energetic field. When light has no barrier, it illumines us. Imagine a piece of beautiful furniture. When you don't dust, the layer of residue makes the furniture look dull and dirty. The moment you wipe a cloth over it, the dust is removed, and the glow of the wood or glass becomes visible. So it is with us at an inner level.

Our assignment this month is to identify the areas within our psyches that bind us. Where are we locked in anger or other blinding emotions that block our light? As we work with this principle and clear what holds us back, we will begin to make room for the light of understanding and the elements of synchronicity to enter. Then we can begin to follow the clues that will lead us on our journey towards discovering the Grail.
