Giving Up Our History

As we enter the new year and proceed with our Grail journey, let's look at some of the things we've been asked to do so far.
  1. Step out of what is familiar, safe, and known.
  2. Develop qualities such as tolerance, discernment, tenacity, and willingness to begin anew.
  3. Take stock of ourselves, do personal inventory, and simplify our lives.
  4. Identify inner beliefs and attitudes that bind us emotionally.
  5. Give up our defenses and the need to be the one who knows.
  6. Recognize that we are not here to be safe.

Now we are asked to go a step further. As we've looked at our tendency to hold on to what is familiar, we are asked to give up our attachment to history. That which we hold on to keeps us chained to a historical viewpoint and limits our ability to move forward. A glaring example of this is demonstrated in Afghanistan, where everything is dictated by tribal affiliation and historical grudges, glories, defeats, and revenge. Hatred is exploited in the present generation dating back hundreds of years.

Attitudes toward others is hardened by centuries old disputes and customs that no longer have any merit. We see medieval mentalities in full dominion because of unwillingness to give up attachment to history. At a personal level, when we look at our lives through historical context, we make assumptions and decisions based on what happened to us in the past. We employ hindsight that often contains fear of repeating a mistake to our present circumstances. We may impose our past disappointments on current relationships, jobs, or way of life. We make assumptions about people, situations, opportunities or lack thereof based on what went before.

When we walk forward looking backwards we are unable to see the wonderful possibility that is just ahead. Attachment to historical memory can blind us to our good.Giving up our attachment to history does not mean losing sight of lessons learned in the past. It means we trust that what we need to carry forward through historical context related to growth and development has merged within us. We do not have to resurrect details, wounds, or emotional baggage. We must bury the dead that the living might live. In giving up attachment, we are literally demonstrating our trust in higher power and in a compassionate universe that will assist us through life.

As we break through the barrier of need to control, and ally ourselves with the force of light, we will be given what is needed to elevate us to a higher octave. Out of a limiting reality, we engage fully with the Grail journey. Provisions are here for us, and are recognized once we have made the necessary perceptual shift. Embarking on a new year, we give up our attachment to the old. Each day is a new opportunity,. We know our direction. We know our focus. Let the adventure unfold
